British pop star Charli XCX has revealed the X-rated plans she’s been asked to try by her marketing team in a bid to score a hit with her new record.
In a post shared on X she revealed one of the ideas was to film a sex tape in the same vein as Paris Hilton’s controversial leaked video and share it online.
“Things have been boring without me. swipe for some marketing ideas I was sent last week :),” she captioned the tweet.
The 31-year-old then revealed the list of plans she’d received, and one of the ideas read: “Charli leaks a sex tape. VD (name of a song) plays in the background. Night vision gradient camera style a la Midnight in Paris (Paris Hilton sex tape).”
Other ideas the star had been told to pitch to her label included telling fans she was running for office, getting caught shoplifting to have her own “Winona” moment or wearing a “ball gown” and being “as obnoxious as possible” on the London Underground.
Meanwhile, Billboard announced this week it would be honouring the singer with the Powerhouse Award at this year’s Billboard Women in Music Awards.
“We could not be more excited to celebrate these inspiring and dynamic artists from around the world as they move our culture forward and inspire women everywhere to push boundaries and pursue their own dreams,” Billboard’s editorial director Hannah Karp said in a statement.
After finding out, Charli rushed to X to celebrate the news.
“Billboard is honouring me at their Women in Music awards, and I’m very honoured,” she wrote. “Thank you! and I’m also nominated for a Brit. woah. I’ve never felt stronger about the music I’m making, And it’s defo cool to be noticed, but it’s also fun to be an outsider too. So thank you!”
