Kyle Sandilands reveals trainwreck aftermath of Will Ferrell interview

Kyle Sandilands has revealed one of the worst celebrity encounters from his decades-long career rubbing shoulders with A-list stars.

Speaking on KIIS Network’s Will & Woody Tuesday, the Sydney radio king recalled the heated aftermath of an on-air interview he and co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson conducted with US actor Will Ferrell in 2013.

During their chat with the Elf actor, Henderson was accidentally pronouncing Ferrell’s last name ‘feral’ – when it’s supposed to be pronounced ‘fur-ell’.

While Ferrell had no issues with the innocent blunder, with Sandilands saying he was a “great” interviewee, the Anchorman star’s publicist cornered Henderson at the end of the segment and called her “stupid”.

“The publicist just ripped into Jackie like, I mean extremely yelling and carrying on,” Sandilands remembered.

“Jackie burst into tears because he was very confrontational. And I walked out and I heard the aftermath and saw Jackie and I just, well, I wouldn’t say attacked, but I verbally threatened him.

“I said, ‘You d**k head publicist, get the f**k out of here.’”

Sandilands conceded he “probably went a little overboard”, proceeding to “chase them [Ferrell’s team] all out.”

“I said, ‘What are you waiting for? I will flog you all.’

“Apparently he was one of the biggest publicists in the world, and they banned us from many celebrities for about 10 years.”

Sandilands is certainly no stranger to awkward celeb interviews.

In 2021, he revealed former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan was an “a**hole”, adding that he “hated” him.

“We were on the red carpet, and Kyle’s first question to Pierce was, ‘Why do you reckon there’s been no Australians doing James Bond?’” Henderson said on-air at the time.

Brosnan was quick to point out to Kyle that his question was wrong, with Australian actor George Lazenby playing the British agent in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1969.

“That’s right. The s**t Bond actor, what was his name, Remington Steel?” Sandilands joked.

“What an a**hole that guy was.

“(He gave) a long, toffee nosed answer and I thought, you know what? I can’t stand you mate. Hated him.”

Years ago, he pressed renowned artist and John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, on what her sex life was like with the former Beatles vocalist.

Sandilands later admitted he wished he kept his mouth shut in a rare show of regret.

“I’ve been twisted my whole life. This isn’t a new thing. I’ve been doing that forever,” Kyle said to Jackie on-air.

“What’s wrong with me?”
