A 25-year-old man found with “injuries to his hands” will face court after a woman’s body was discovered during a welfare check in a NSW town.
Police said they were called to a Tweed Heads West home in the Northern Rivers region about 5.50pm on Wednesday.
They said they had received a call expressing concern for the woman’s welfare but did not provide further details.
Responding offers discovered the remains of an unidentified woman, believed to be in her 60s, inside the Lakes Drive property.
A short time later, NSW Police said they found the injured man on an adjacent street and took him to hospital under police guard.
He was subsequently charged with murder and is due to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Thursday.
On Thursday morning, forensic police searched the property as police vehicles remained outside.
