A man and woman have died after they were hit by a freight train in outer north Sydney.
NSW Police said a man in his 20s was helping a woman, believed to be in her 30s, off the train tracks when they were both hit by a freight train at Berowra Railway Station just after midnight on Friday.
It’s understood the man and woman were known to each other.
While multiple paramedics, including intensive care paramedics, attempted to treat the pair, they both died at the scene.
Police are investigating the death as a case of misadventure, and they do not believe self-harm was involved.
A crime scene has now been established by officers from Kuring Gai Police Area Command, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
