Morgan Riddle, the girlfriend of American tennis star Taylor Fritz, has detailed her “scary” experience at Monday’s Super Bowl, saying she was “groped” and “harassed” by male NFL fans.

The 26-year-old fashion influencer – previously dubbed “the most famous woman in men’s tennis” by the New York Times – spent the weekend in Las Vegas with friends for the Kansas City Chiefs’ thrilling 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

For Riddle, however, the trip was memorable for a far more harrowing reason.

“Wasn’t going to post about this but I actually think its (sic) important to. I can’t believe the level of harassment we dealt with this weekend from grown men,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“In the last 3 days Ive (sic) been grabbed, gropped (sic), harassed, cat called incessantly – basically every few minutes when we were out in public. And it was really bad at the game today. We couldn’t even enjoy the game without getting bothered by drunk, rude, gross male fans. It’s extremely stressful and scary.”

Riddle then shared a photo of herself inside a toilet stall, where she said she spent the third quarter of the game “because I had a panic attack”.

“There was a father at the game with his son who looked about 10 years old. He used his kid as a vehicle to try to hit on us – and his own son, a child, turned to him and said ‘Dad, what are you doing?’ How do you think little boys become obnoxious men?” she continued.

“I have male sports fans who follow me and luckily ive (sic) never experienced something like this with tennis but I just hope any guy reading this understands the gravity of your words and actions, were (sic) all just there to try and watch a football game.

“Getting grabbed by grown men is scary and insensitive.”

Riddle, who has dated Fritz for almost four years, has amassed a following of 240,000 on Instagram and more than 700,000 on TikTok, where she predominantly shares the outfits she wears to Fritz’s matches. She’s been credited with bringing an entirely new audience to the sport.

“I cover the younger generation, the teenage girl fans of tennis because I think tennis, media and the sport in general underestimate how many of them there are,” Riddle told The Age while in Melbourne with Fritz for this year’s Australian Open.

“I realised that there was a gap in this content market. There are a lot of content creators focusing on the sport of tennis, the scores, the players and the guy with the great backhand.

“But 50 per cent of tennis fans are women. They love that part of it, but they love everything else around it too. They want to see the outfits, the travel, the lifestyle.”
